Dosing

When used properly, all RootMedic products are 100% fish and shrimp safe.

The RootMedic Dosing system is a flexible, simple, all-in-one solution for dosing planted aquariums of all shapes and sizes. Built in 2 parts–Substrate and Water column dosing, the RootMedic system provides everything your plants need to thrive.

To use RootMedic Substrate Nutrients, place 1 RootCap every 2-5 inches in planted areas of your aquarium. Replace every 3-6 months. Tweezers work well to push the capsules deep into the substrate(at least 1 inch below the surface).

From time to time a small yellow ball may pop up to the surface from your RootMedic Complete fertilizer. These are not harmful, but are better removed or pushed back below the surface of the substrate. Excessive moving of plants should be done with a water change and removal of any fertilizer balls that are moved to prevent ammonia spikes and the subsequent problems associated with ammonia.

Breeding Liquid Dosage:

Use ONE squeeze of the dropper per week following normal water changes.

WATER CHANGES:

RootMedic Nutrients are designed to be used on tanks that have water changes of 20-50% per week. Water changes help to ensure nutrients do not reach toxic levels, while helping to lower organics and hormones from the water. RootMedic also recommends doing a large “reset” water change of 80-90% every 2 months. Doing this helps to ensure that your Total Dissolved Solids(TDS) remains at a reasonable level.
