Why RootMedic?
Often I get the question: What makes RootMedic better than other aquarium fertilizers? So here are a few answers to common questions.
Q: How is RootMedic supplied?
A: 1 bottle for Micro and 1 bottle for Macro
Q: How is RootMedic dosed?
A: 1 pump(0.5 mL) each(micro/macro) per 5 gallons, 2-4 days per week
Q: How long will RootMedic last me?
A: A 500 mL set will last a 20 gal tank between 4 months(very high light/high CO2) and 2 years(low tech, once weekly dosing). The average 20 gal tank will get 6-8 months of dosing out of a single 500 mL set of RootMedic Liquid Fertilizers.
Q: What advantages does RootMedic have for dosing my small aquarium?
A: The 0.5 mL pump allows you to dose nano tanks precisely, while dosing larger aquariums still only takes a few seconds to pump. No guessing how many “threads equals a mL” anymore, and no changes from day to day.
Q: Why does RootMedic use Urea? Is it safe?
A: To provide a higher level of usable nitrogen. Ammonical Nitrogen in reasonable levels is perfectly safe. Plant uptake of ammonical nitrogen is significantly faster than their uptake of Nitrate, and thus it does not pose a danger to fish or inverts. RootMedic is 100% safe for all fish and invertebrates when dosed as directed.
Q: Is the copper in RootMedic safe for Shrimp/Invertebrates?
A: Yes. Plants require copper for healthy growth, as do shrimp and snails. Only in high dosed medication levels is copper toxic to aquarium life. RootMedic is 100% safe for all fish and invertebrates when dosed as directed.
Q: What are the little balls in RootMedic Complete RootCaps?
A: They are time released prills designed for use fully submerged in aquarium water. They are not terrestrial fertilizers. They will release slower than similar terrestrial fertilizers, and are 100% safe when used as directed.
Q: How should I use RootMedic RootCaps?
A: Place 1 capsule every 3-4 inches in planted areas of the aquarium. Place capsule using forceps or fingers as close to the bottom glass as possible. If you see a prill surface, remove it or push it down into the substrate using a pencil or similar device. Replace RootCaps every 3-6 months, as needed.
Q: How should I store RootMedic fertilizers?
A: Liquid fertilizers should be stored in dark, cool places. For long term storage, refrigeration is best. RootCaps should be kept dry. Use caution to not get water in the bag as the potassium based gel caps will start to dissolve.
Q: What is the unique about RootMedic?
A: RootMedic is the highest concentrated 2 bottle system of Liquid Fertilizers available. RootMedic oneSTEP is the ONLY all-in-one fertilizer made in the USA. RootMedic Pumps allow simple dosing on tanks from 5 gallons to 100 gallons and above with just a few squeezes. Smaller tanks can be dosed simply by dosing less times per week.
